Day one...

We were SO blessed to have Nana with us for the past 10 days after Logan was born, but I guess it had to end sometime. Today was the first "Nana-less" day, and I have to admit I was a little anxious about how it would go. I knew there was no way I would get a shower this morning, so I got one last night in preparation for what (I assumed) would be a day of chaos. So here is how it has gone so far...

Abby got up around 7:45 this morning, and I was able to wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed (in real "I could leave the house if I needed to" clothes), and put makeup on while she played in her room. I got her set up with breakfast right around the time that Logan was waking up and ready to eat. We had a nice breakfast together (well, they did--I ate later after feeding Logan a bottle), and then Logan sat in his bouncy seat while Abby danced around to Disney music, and I cleaned up and started a load of the kids' laundry (which I think might become a daily occurrence). Logan went back to sleep so I put him in bed, and Abby and I built a few tall towers with her blocks. I needed to wash bottles and a few pans, and Abby was quite content to sit at her table in her room and color for a while. I joined her in coloring when I was done for a few minutes, and then I even managed to get the load of towels and sheets folded and put away and switched the kids' laundry to the dryer. Lunch time rolled around, so Abby and I sat down together and had sandwiches. Casey got to come home for lunch today (hopefully a new trend that will continue), so that was an added bonus! We finished eating just as Logan was waking up and ready to eat again. Casey sat with Abby for a few minutes while I got Logan ready to eat, but then he had to go back to work. I had Abby bring a few "Fancy Nancy" books over so I could read to her while feeding Logan his bottle, and she was perfectly content with that. Logan pretty much drank himself into a formula coma and was out again, so I put him back in bed. Oh, look--it's time for Abby's nap, too! As I write all of this, both kids are asleep. At the same time. I plan to join them very soon--just wanted to make sure I recorded this first completely manageable day at home with my two kids. Especially since I'm fairly certain it will never happen again. :)

Here's the catch--we haven't had to leave the house today. Tomorrow, Abby starts back to school and has to be there at 8:30 in the morning. As soon as I drop her off, Logan and I have to visit my OB for my post-surgery checkup. This means we all have to be dressed, fed, and packed with all of the essentials by 8:15 in the morning. Riiiight..... Say a little prayer for me, won't you?

I seem to have been left out of the lunch time section where I played with Abby for about 15 minutes...

There, dear--I fixed it. You are now included in my summary of the day's events. Better? :)

You sound like you're doing so well! I moved very slowly after my c-section...so I am very impressed with all of your moving around and accomplishments. Even having make up on. You rock! Though I know it often helps me get moving when I actually feel/look half decent! Hope it all continues as smoothly as this! -- Nicole

See? I knew you'd do great with two. I enjoyed my week staying home with babies again - it was a little hard to get back to work this week! :)
